Seven songs meme
Having been tagged by diedalittle, I must oblige.

Instructions: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. Concerto For 4 Harpsichords In A Minor -- Johann Sebastian Bach

2. The King's Hunt -- John Bull

Incomparable to Bach and by no means my favorite piece on the harpsichord, but useful for stretching those fingers which remain to me. And I will admit to a certain fraternal fondness for John Bull, of whom the Archbishop of Canterbury said: "The man hath more music than honesty and is as famous for marring of virginity as he is for fingering of organs and virginals."

3. Gallardas -- Spanish Baroque Guitar

As played by the Roger's former cook, who was not long aboard before he succumbed to the mermaids' moonlit song and drowned himself with unfortunate Iberian zeal.

4. The Eton Boating Song

5. Tu ch'hai le penne, amore -- an aria from Giulio Caccini's opera Euridice

The title translates as "Oh Love, You Who Have Wings." Snigger at your own considerable peril.

6. A Pirate's Song -- Unknown

A hundred shall serve - the best of the brave,
And the chief of a thousand shall kneel as thy slave,
And thou shalt reign queen, and thy empire shall last
Till the black flag by inches, is torn from the mast.

A favorite of mine ever since I heard it, though I do not know the source. I once performed the full verses for Mr. Malfoy Junior, who was a most gracious audience.

Last but not least, according to Smee's estimation...

7. The Trim-Rigged Doxy

It was haul out the bow and let the stays fall
And yardarm to yardarm bobbin'
Oh, me shot all gone, asleep I falls
And soon she turned to robbin'
She robbed me pockets of all I had
And she took me boots from the end of the bed
Why, she even took a gold watch out from underneath me head
The saucy little trim-rigged doxy.

And when I'd found that she was gone
I started to roar like thunder
Oh, me gold watch and me money too
She'd bore them away for plunder
But it ain't for me watch nor me money too
For them I don't value; I tell you true
I fear her little fire-bucket burned me bobstay through
The saucy little trim-rigged doxy.

*Aidan comes onto the Jolly Roger (some...how...) and manages to sneak up on the good captain (some...how...) and kisses him. This is his Christmas Promise that he made people. He then lets go of the captain and high tails it out of there!*
Captain Jas. Hook: Good formbad_form on December 20th, 2005 06:50 pm (UTC)
*Though somewhat bemused, the good captain tolerates the kiss, and possibly even enjoys it while it lasts. Most importantly, he refrains from disemboweling Aidan!*

*cracks up* I saw his post about this and was wondering when he'd get around to snogging Hook. Now if it had been the Count... who would of course never give out kisses like that, but hey, it's fun to imagine! *g*

*Yay for that! Aidan dashes off to his next victim!*

*grins* Well, the Count was tempted...let me tell you what. But he isn't that ready to just do that yet.
